HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy - Analysis

1. What is your reaction to the text you just read?

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was surprisingly funny. It uses sarcasm and humor to address human greed by politicians and also confronts how people are just like sheep’s being led.

2. What connections did you make with the story? Discuss what elements of the story with which you were able to connect?

Progress VS. Arthur Dent... they wanted to knock down his home for the sake of progressiveness. They needed to build a highway. And the ironic aspect was that Arthur was saved from evaporation from the destruction of the Earth because they needed to build a quicker route through the universe.

3. What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium? What medium would you choose; what changes would you make?

I’d make it a play or a skit on a tv show. It’s a hysterical way to show the world how greedy humans can be. This is most definitely a display of science fiction parody and satire. It’s similar to some older movies that use humor so well to show the gluttony, selfishness, and greed.
