The Drowned Giant - Analysis

When reading this short story, I found it odd that no one reacted or freaked out a lot about the proof of giant existence in this world. If they found one washed ashore and others were alive then whos to say they wouldn't search for this one and find it horrific that the people on this land were using the bones for architectural purposes. However, it could also mean that since this giant was washed up and the narrator of the story describes the facial features in a way that is reminiscent of a person of high social standing, thus proving my point that this giant was killed and exiled and there was reason to do so because they had something to gain from killing it. I enjoyed the references towards Homer in this short story and I find it funny that I always end up finding something connected to classical greek myth in most stories. I always end up gravitating towards those stories more. This idea that there is another universe with giants is a strange one and in this day and age it would be a total freak out all over social media and people would probably lose their minds and buy a shit ton of toilet paper because a giant washed ashore. Interesting read, I like the concept, I just wish there was more explanation.

  1. Interesting point here. Its the same question as would we be ready for the discovery of extraterrestrials?
