The Cursed Child Analysis

The Cursed Child was a good read. However, there are some points of the plot that are just less believable than others. Which ultimately leads it to be a sort of cheesy story. What I did enjoy was the union of Scorpius Malfoy's and Albus Potter's friendship. They are an interesting pair and I loved the character of Scorpius Malfoy. You can really see the difference between his nature and his father's nature when he was his age. This tells us at Draco Malfoy really reformed his personality and was a good role model towards his son. Although his father still maintains some of his characteristics he is still a better person.

Then there is the villain. The villain is a poorly thought up character in my opinion. Definitely, a creative back story, being the daughter of Voldemort. However, this character sort of breaks rules set by the other book. I feel it would have been more thoughtful to have this rumor of a love child doing this wrongdoing but then it ends up being just a child of a death eater who wants revenge for their parents. Maybe they hate Harry Potter because he destroyed their family. Otherwise, I found this to be a great read and I would even go and check out the play if I could.

The Martian Analysis

What I really enjoyed about The Martian is the style of narration from the perspective of the main character of the story, I can really get engaged into my reading when the character is having a conversation with the reader. I really enjoyed this reading because of how easy it is for me to latch onto the conversation. "If the Oxygenator breaks down, I’ll suffocate. If the Water Reclaimer breaks down, I’ll die of thirst. If the Hab breaches, I’ll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen, I’ll eventually run out of food and starve to death. So yeah. I’m fucked." The casual way the story starts is super great and funny. I love a story with a character who is a bit cynical yet slightly optimistic because they except their fate so they are going to make the best of their situation and be as sarcastic as possible. Anansi Boys

I was very excited to read something based on mythology. However, I did not flow into reading this book as well as I would've liked to. The concept of having someone trying to take your place is interesting, but not interesting enough to really capture my attention. Although, it was interesting to see something written about a trickster god and other gods based on animals. I am really used to reading about Greek myth. There are weird moments that I was not expecting, like the whole birds flying out of the mouth deal. Which in my mind I can picture a really cool scene unfolding but I still just did not take enough interest as I thought I would.
